St Peter's Church of England Primary School

Wrap Around Care

Wrap Around Care at St Peter’s is available for children attending the school. The facility is provided by St Peter’s School Wraparound Limited, which is a not for profit company (limited by guarantee) and is owned by the Governing Body of St Peter’s Church of England Primary School, and run by the Directors on their behalf. The staff employed are teaching assistants at the school. We run both a Breakfast and After School Club. These operate during term time only. There is no child care provision provided at St Peter’s during school holidays.

Both the Breakfast and After School Clubs are based in the school hall. Breakfast Club runs from 7.30am and you can drop your child into the hall at any time from then onwards. We ask that you try to drop them before 8.15 if possible. It isn’t an enormous problem if you drop them after 8.15am, but it means that we have comparatively little time to settle the children and provide them with a breakfast before we have to pack away and get ready for the start of school at 8.30am. At 8.30am, the Breakfast Club staff will walk the children to their classrooms.

Staff from the After School Club will collect our youngest children from their classes at the end of the day and take them to the hall. The older children make their own way to the hall. Once there, they will either enjoy a variety of activities in the hall if the weather is inclement, or if it is fine they will also have the option of going outside to play.

At the Breakfast Club your child is provided with a variety of food and drink including cereals, toast and yoghurt. At the After School Club, you child receives a hot meal. All food and drink follow “Healthy Schools” guidelines.

At the ASC we provide a wide range of activities for your child to take part in, including cookery, art and craft, board games, outdoor play and ICT. However, these are not “lessons” and children are free to choose a different activity to those on offer in consultation with the staff.

The school site is secure and parents can only gain access onto the site by using the intercom system at the entrance gate on Mount Pleasant. To either drop your child at the Breakfast Club or to collect them from the ASC, operate the intercom and staff in the hall will release the gate lock to allow you to come in.

Session times

Sessions are run during Term Time. The precise dates of each term are issued annually. Please ask if you are unsure.

Breakfast Club:            07:30 – Start of School
After School Care:       End of School – 18:00

Fees

  • Breakfast Club:                                            £5.75
  • After School Care - Full session:              £16.00 - This includes a cooked, hot meal.
  • After School Care - Shortened session: £5.50

We appreciate that some of you may not need to have your child stay after school and be fed by us. You may merely need time to get from your place of work, or from collecting older siblings, before you can get to our school. The extra 30-40 minutes you need doesn’t warrant paying for a full session at the ASC.  Hence, we offer the one hour session for 35.50. Doing so, also assists those of you with 2 or more children, when one is staying for an extra-curricular club. If you wish, you’ll be able to have one child attend ASC for the hour that their sibling is in a club. The children who stay for just the hour won’t be fed.

Bookings for Wraparound Care should be made online via the SchoolComms system. You must book a minimum of 7 days in advance. Only emergency sessions with less than 7 days’ notice will be booked by the office, if agreed by Wraparound Care staff.  Short sessions can be booked right up to the day you need the provision (if there are spaces available), as we do not need to order food for the children attending these sessions.

Breakfast and After School sessions need to be booked separately. Those who pay by bank transfer or cash will be asked for payment at the time of booking. We accept payment using Childcare vouchers. You will be able to book online and then send in your Childcare vouchers to the office.

Fees are payable for all sessions booked, even if your child does not attend. Please note: late collections will be charged at the rate of £5 for every 10 minutes after 6:00 pm. Our staff work long days and have their own families to go home to, so please be on time to collect your child.

We try to be as flexible as possible with regard to booking places at Wraparound. We appreciate that some working parents may receive quite short notice of their work patterns and hence their child care needs. Consequently we only ask for a minimum of one week’s notice when booking places at either the Breakfast Club or ASC. We need a week’s notice as we have to order the food we require for the number of children on each day. Of course, if you are certain of your child care needs, you can pre-book your sessions for a term or longer. However, conversely, if you have an emergency and need to use our Wraparound care at short notice, please call. We will always try to support you if we can.

Neither the Breakfast Club nor ASC is at capacity so we do have spaces available if needed. Should the uptake rise considerably we will employ more staff to meet demand. The hall is large enough to accommodate as many of our children who might ultimately need this service.

If you have any questions or issues please call Mrs Rein in the school office who will be able to help.
