VE DAY Friday 8th May

Friday 8th May is the 75th Anniversary of VE Day. So that you can celebrate and learn about this historic achievement we have put together some resources for the whole family to enjoy. Below you will find videos, recipes, activities, craft and colouring to be completed at home at your leisure. None of this is compulsory and to be completed only if you want to. If you do complete an activity and you would like to show us please email in to the office.

Here are some online resources to learn about VE Day and how people and celebrating VE Day this year.

Live Stream (11.15am) –

Grab a cup of tea and join the Royal British Legion for a 45-minute stream as they bring the World War Two generation together with today’s generation to chat about their shared experiences. They will be sharing stories and memories from those who served and sacrificed during the Second World War, as well as recognising the difficulties people are experiencing today.

Hosted by TV presenter Sonali Shah, the programme will feature contributions from social historian Julie Summers, and cook and influencer Melissa Helmsley. They will be streaming live on this page after the Two Minute Silence from 11.15am, as well as on the Legion’s Facebook page.


The BBC are offering a wide range of dedicated programming across television, radio, social media and on their TV streaming service BBC iPlayer.

Dame Vera Lynn Singalong (9.00pm) –

As part of the ‘VE Day 75: The People’s Celebration’ music event there will be a performance from Dame Vera Lynn. Everyone is encouraged to sing along. Lyrics can be seen in the link.
