New Starter Information for Year R September 2020

Arrangements for children joining us in September 2020 UPDATED

Obviously these are extremely uncertain times and consequently it isn’t possible to have definite arrangements for the start of school in September. However, we would like to share with you what we at least propose as a transition process for our new Reception class this September! We feel it is prudent to outline a firm plan for what we will do if circumstances allow, and all being well your child’s transition will follow the process set out below.

Obviously during these uncertain times this plan is very much subject to change. It is possible that the operation of the school will continue to be affected into September, but we all hope that the crisis will have abated sufficiently that school life can return to normal. As we proceed through August

Welcome meetings with Mrs Stone and Mr Holditch

Mrs Stone and Mr Holditch will hold welcome meetings solely for parents. Because of social distance requirements, we are holding two smaller meetings as opposed to the one large one we usually run. Parents will be invited in according to the house team that your child is in. You have all been advised of your child’s house. The times and dates are below. We will hold them in the school hall to allow everyone to maintain sufficient separation. At this juncture, we hope that restrictions will have been eased sufficiently that you will be able to leave your child with a family member so that the meeting can be just for parents. However, we are obviously mindful that this may not be the case. If it isn’t we will change our plans accordingly. Both meetings will be held between 7-8pm.

Stay and Play with Mrs Stone

In the following week, you will be able to bring your child into school and they will be able to spend time in the Reception classroom with Mrs Stone and Miss Price. There will be two of these sessions with the children attending in their house teams.

Once you have dropped your child, you will be able to come into the school hall, or possibly in Coronation Gardens, for a social gathering – or as social as is possible in these times. Mr Holditch will be there and members of the school governing body. This will allow you an opportunity to start to become acquainted with some members of the school. You will collect your child at the end of the allotted session. Both of these sessions run from 1.15 – 2.30pm.
